Dr Khaled Soufani, Cambridge Judge Business School

Circular Economy has been gaining a lot of attention due to enormous impact that such an innovative business model can have on companies in general and our society. The Circular Economy is a disruptive and innovative economic model which relates to different levels of government policy, businesses and consumers. It requires firms in different sectors across the value chain to integrate disruptive technology and design business models that are based on longevity, renewability, reuse, repair, upgrade, refurbishment, serviceability, capacity sharing, and dematerialisation.

Organisations still have to take into consideration cost management and control, but they have to think bigger – rethinking products and services and designing end user value propositions that offer increased efficiency, effectiveness, and performance. Despite the importance and potential benefits of the circular economy, the private sector is yet to adopt this new approach at either the strategic or operational level for many different reasons. Furthermore, many governments are yet to recognise the full potential and benefits associated with the circular economy. Part of the problem is the need for both companies and governing bodies to see practical business cases and business models in action.

This webinar will draw on Dr Soufani’s considerable publication portfolio, encompassing various circular economy case studies and best practice as well as his practical experience in circular economy research projects that the Circular Economy Centre (CEC) is involved with. He will outline the principles of circular economy and its business application.

Circular economy principles are relevant to all types of business/organisation whether you are a start-up, SME or larger corporation, whether you already implement circular ideas or are looking to structure your organisation according to them. Dr Soufani’s overview could help to spark new ideas/initiatives and/or consolidate pre-existing plans.
