Career progression to the top

I am a firm believer in exercising my most valuable asset - my brain. Progression and growth have always been my driving goals for both my business and personal life and I continually strive for improvement, embrace new experiences and contribute more to society.

I started my career during university; first as an intern and then working part time for Nomura at the investment group's London office. After I graduated with a French with Business degree from Queen Mary University of London, I was hired at the hedge fund Caxton Europe. I started from the very bottom and worked my way up, from the back office through to the middle office and then became Head of Operations.

When the credit team at Caxton decided to set up its own investment manager, Lucidus Capital Partners, I was on board as a key executive member of the team. We essentially started from scratch and I hired a new team, developed new systems and progressed operations. Throughout this process I was heavily involved in potential investor due diligence meetings and our success attracted a great deal of exposure to investors (90 per cent institutional). After successfully completing the build-out, there was a need and significant interest to focus on the investors and so with a meeting of minds with the new Investment Manager, I was given the exciting new opportunity to head up Investor Relations and have been with the team for ten years.

Different perspectives

The world is a large place and to be the best version of ourselves, we need to look into different worlds/paradigms. I have only experienced one viewpoint from the corporate world but I feel that there is so much more to learn. That is why doing the Executive MBA has been such an important step in my career. I want to learn from those who reference a different world view to my own. My experience so far is that everyone, from the faculty to my esteemed cohort has an infectious attitude towards learning, growth and progress. They have an interest in developing themselves, their careers and society as a whole.

For me, the group work experience is paramount because growth is not just about one's strengths but also one's weaknesses, and I believe that it's only from working on one's weaknesses do we really grow. The community here acts as a great support as each individual desires to achieve excellence in every meaning of the word. I feel inspired by my colleagues and look forward to growing with them through the programme.
