Through this scholarship, my goal is to become a real "ambassador” to other South Americans aiming to pursue an international MBA.

What led you to take the Cambridge MBA?

The Cambridge MBA is a critical component of my well-thought roadmap for self-development to become a global leader. I resonate with the School’s mission of leveraging the power of academia for real-world impact, and there are several reasons why I chose Cambridge for my MBA. First, Cambridge's multicultural atmosphere and enriching College community will allow me to experience cross-pollination of ideas in a place of inspiration and collaboration. Second, its experiential learning approach through the consulting projects will sharpen my business acumen and analytical skills, dealing with the high expectations of corporate clients. Third, Cambridge’s strategic location, in a city with innovation and entrepreneurial spirit (the 'Silicon Fen'), and an influential alumni global network. For me, what stands out is my intention to spend a year of my life surrounded by highly motivated and ambitious people that bring diversity from all over the world, and this cultural diversity leads to significant learning and potentially life-changing experiences.

Describe the biggest accomplishment in your career so far?

My most significant achievement happened when I was assigned to be the International Human Resources Leader for Mexico and the Caribbean. I had been working for Unilever for only four months, and I had never worked in a region other than Brazil. I had three months to meet and create a bond with the HR team based in this area and to implement from scratch Unilever's Expatriate Programme. Further, I had to train the payroll team while building an onboarding package for incoming employees. I had to create a working group quickly in a challenging environment where the countries were continually changing their immigration requirements.

I learned specific conditions and laws for these countries. Finally, I had to move fast and rely on my network – here, I discovered the real power of influence and collaboration. I am proud to not only have nurtured a healthy relationship with the HR community but also to have acted as an adviser, helping Unilever roll out the knowledge transfer in the region. This experience is the achievement I am most proud of because it was the first time I had to prove myself as a leader, inspiring and mobilising other people to achieve an ambitious objective. Through this achievement, I like to think that I have helped people towards reaching their fullest potential in a new country.

How do you feel about being awarded your scholarship?

It is an enormous honour to be awarded both a Merit-based Bursary and the South American Nationals Scholarship. I am very thankful to Cambridge Judge Business School who have provided a valuable contribution to my MBA journey. Education has always had a profound impact on me, and I have faith that I can positively influence the next generation of leaders in my home country. Through this scholarship, my goal is to become a real "ambassador” to other South Americans aiming to pursue an international MBA and to contribute to the recruiting process of MBA prospective students and spreading the Cambridge community spirit wherever I am.

What do you want to get out of the MBA most of all in the next year?

I genuinely believe that formal education offers the means whereby I may carry my career and life forward; the Cambridge MBA will lead me through this successful path. The programme will offer me the environment where I can achieve my fullest potential to make an impact in the business world, by overcoming my current boundaries and experiencing an entirely new set of professional and personal challenges, all in an immensely diverse community. By the end of the MBA, I hope to have challenged my assumptions and moved out my comfort zone.

Where do you see your MBA journey taking you in your future career?

Being more conscious of the positive impact I can have on the people around me will allow me to take my career to the next level after my MBA. I want to be on the edge of innovation, impacting a wide range of organisations to transform their business models through HR initiatives and ensuring that talent is developed and deployed for maximum benefit to the economy and society. The combination of my professional experience in multinational companies, my urge to change the organisations and my people-oriented driving force, combined with the Cambridge MBA, form a solid basis to chase my dream.

Something that not many people know about you

I love adrenaline, and the most remarkable experience for me was when I did bungee jumping in New Zealand from a suspension bridge into the river.
