Fees

The combined fee for our two-year MSt in Social Innovation is £30,000 (£15,000 per annum), which includes College membership. This fee applies to students commencing their studies in October 2017 and completing their studies by 2019. The same fee applies to all the MSt in Social Innovation students, irrespective of their nationality. 

In addition to this, students need to budget for the cost of travel, accommodation and subsistence during the residential teaching blocks in Cambridge (three residentials of one week each in the first year, and one residential of one week in the second year).

CJBS bursaries

A number of bursaries will be available for the MSt in Social innovation for UK students from the social or public sector, and are likely to be awarded to those from organisations with limited resources.

Scholarships

The CCSI scholarships for social sector practitioners

The Cambridge Centre for Social Innovation (CCSI) has made two scholarships available to candidates already engaged with the social sector. CCSI welcomes applications from those working at organisations with limited resources in particular, irrespective of nationality or geographical location of the candidate.

There are two scholarships available: one scholarship to cover full fees (totalling £30,000 across two years) and one scholarship to cover half of the fees (£7,500 payable in 2017/18 and £7,500 payable in 2018/19).

To apply for this funding applicants will be required to submit an expression of interest explaining (in less than 1,000 words):

  • how the Masters programme will benefit her/his charitable or social organisation(s)
  • how the candidate may be able to have an impact beyond her/his own organisation, and
  • how the candidate will be able to promote the Mt in Social Innovation to future applicants.

Candidates must have received an offer to join the programme in October 2017 before they can be considered for the scholarship.

The deadline to apply for these scholarships is 30 April 2017.

The CCSI scholarships for social change makers

The Cambridge Centre for Social Innovation (CCSI) has also made one scholarship available for aspiring social change makers. There is one scholarship available per cohort. The scholarship will cover half of the fees (£7,500 payable in 2017/18 and £7,500 payable in 2018/19). CCSI welcomes applications from any candidate needing financial support, irrespective of nationality or geographical location.

  • a social innovation business idea which the programme can help realise, or 
  • a change project within an organisation which the programme can help realise.

Candidates must have received an offer to join the programme in October 2017 before they can be considered for the scholarship.

The deadline to apply for this scholarships is 30 April 2017.

The St Edmund’s College & CJBS Social Innovation scholarship

A £10,000 award (£5,000 payable in 2017/18 and £5,000 payable in 2018/19) has been made available by St Edmund’s College in partnership with Cambridge Judge Business School for applicants on the MSt in Social Innovation who select St Edmund’s as their first College choice. St Edmund’s and CJBS welcome applications from any candidate, irrespective of nationality or geographical location. Applications are particularly welcomed from social sector practitioners (working at organisations with limited resources, such as NGOs, in particular).

  • explaining how the candidate will be able to play a part in the life of St Edmund’s College.

Candidates must have received an offer to join the programme in October 2017 and membership at St Edmund’s College before they can be considered for the scholarship.

The Hughes Hall & CJBS Social Innovation scholarship

A £10,000 award (£5,000 payable in 2017/18 and £5,000 payable in 2018/19) has been made available by Hughes Hall in partnership with Cambridge Judge Business School for applicants on the MSt in Social Innovation who select Hughes Hall as their first College choice. Hughes Hall and CJBS welcome applications from any candidate, irrespective of nationality or geographical location.

  • explaining how the candidate will be able to play a part in the life of Hughes Hall and its Enterprise Society.

CURUFC &CJBS Social Innovation scholarship

A £10,000 award (£5,000 payable in year one and £5,000 payable in year two has been made available by the Cambridge University Rugby Union Football Club (CURUFC) in partnership with Cambridge Judge Business School (CJBS). This is open every year to applicants to the MSt in Social Innovation with a high performance rugby background.

CURUFC and CJBS welcome applications from any candidate with an offer, irrespective of gender or nationality.

To apply for this funding applicants will be required to submit:

  • a summary of the candidate’s rugby playing career/experience
  • a proposal outlining:

    • how the candidate will be able to play a part in the life of CURUFC
    • how the candidate will be able to promote the MSt in Social Innovation to future applicants, including other high performance rugby players.

Candidates must have received an offer to join the programme before they can be considered for the scholarship.

Deadline

The deadline to apply for this scholarships is 30 April every year.

The 30% Club Scholarship

The MSt in Social Innovation 30% Club Scholarships have been established by the Cambridge Centre for Social Innovation (CCSI) to encourage and support outstanding women who aspire to achieve senior leadership roles in the corporate sector. CCSI welcomes applications from any female candidate currently working in the private sector, irrespective of nationality or geographical location.

There are two scholarships available per cohort. Each scholarship will constitute a 50 per cent fee reduction (£7,500 payable in 2017/18 and £7,500 payable in 2018/19) and a free placement on the 30% Club mentorship scheme. 

To apply for this funding applicants will be required to submit an expression of interest explaining (in less than 1,000 words) how they will be able to:

  • contribute towards the 30% Club initiatives,
  • lead other women in leadership initiatives within the School, and
  • promote the MSt in Social Innovation to future applicants.

Candidates must have received an offer to join the programme in October 2017 before they can be considered for the scholarship.

The deadline to apply for these scholarships is 30 April 2017.

The CCSI Scholarships for University of Cambridge staff development

A Cambridge Centre for Social Innovation (CCSI) Scholarship has been established to encourage and support current members of staff at the University of Cambridge to join the MSt in Social Innovation. The scholarship will constitute a 50 per cent fee reduction (£7,500 payable in 2017/18 and £7,500 payable in 2018/19).

To apply for this funding applicants will be required to submit an expression of interest explaining (in less than 1,000 words) how they will be able to lead innovative solutions to pressing social issues by leveraging resources of the University of Cambridge. Candidates may also be required to attend an interview with the MSt in Social Innovation Programme Team.

Candidates must be current employees of the University of Cambridge and have received an offer to join the programme in October 2017 before they can be considered for the scholarship.

Other funding

You can get funding for postgraduate study through loans, studentships, bursaries and grants - or you might also get help from your employer. Guidance can be found on the Government's website.

Although the University of Cambridge has a variety of funding schemes administered by offices, departments, faculties, institutions and colleges, please note that the majority of them have not been made available to part-time students so far. Anyhow we recommend that you keep an eye on the database of student awards offered by the University of Cambridge.

Note to current students: in genuine cases of unforeseeable hardship, the programme may be able to support students who have shown a high aptitude for research or study but are experiencing difficulties as a result of unexpected changes in their financial circumstances.
