A brief overview of your previous work experience/career path up to this point

Previous to joining the Master of Finance (MFin) programme, I was an Equity Sales Trader at Goldman Sachs Mexico for 3 years. During my time at Goldman Sachs, I learned how to build relationships, help build a business and stay on top of daily news and the impact it has. I also developed great communication skills between my team and other desks.

Why you decided to apply to Cambridge, and what attracted you to the MFin programme

I decided to apply to Cambridge because it is more than just a business school. It is a very old and traditional university with thousands of students that range from neuroscientists to lawyers – and of course, business students too. Also, Cambridge has a lot to offer, whether it’s in sports, culture, societies, or the College system. All of this brings the opportunity to meet new people from different degrees. The thing that attracted me the most to the MFin programme is that it is one of the top post-experience masters in finance and is very complete. They offer a wide range of electives and very good core courses, plus very interesting summer activities.

What you are looking forward to the most about your year in Cambridge

My goal is to make the most out of my year in Cambridge. Learn a lot, of course and deepen my finance skills, but most importantly make very good friendships and meet very interesting people. I want to try to take part in everything I can: sports, societies, formal dinners, interest groups, events and more.

What you are hoping to achieve this year, and how it will contribute towards your post-MFin career

I want to deepen my knowledge and take classes on things I have never explored, like the circular economy, Asian capital markets and quantitative asset allocation, among others, while also using this new knowledge to build a path for my career after MFin. I want to meet new people from different backgrounds and learn from them. I think this experience will be very useful for my career post-MFin.

Your thoughts and feelings on being awarded an MFin scholarship

Being awarded an MFin scholarship was a great achievement. Doing my mastersa in Cambridge was one of my goals and having Cambridge Judge Business School help me achieve that means a lot. I consider this a push to achieve even more with my MFin degree from Cambridge.
