Cambridge MBA alumna wins the Worshipful Company of Marketors’ Award for her study on a leading pharmaceutical company
Cambridge Judge Business School is delighted to congratulate Elena Ion on winning the Worshipful Company of Marketors’ Award for her MBA study “A Review and Critical Evaluation of Strategic Market Entry Platforms in the UK Pharmaceutical Industry”.
Elena, who graduated from Cambridge Judge Business School in 2011, was presented with the £1,000 prize at a ceremony during the Marketor’s Banquet at the Mansion House in London on Thursday 19 July. She was accompanied by her tutor, Helen Haugh, Deputy Director of the MBA programme and University Senior Lecturer in Community Enterprise, who nominated Elena for the award.
For her MBA study, Elena worked directly with the UK strategy team of a leading pharmaceutical organisation in order to identify strategic market entry platforms in the UK pharmaceutical industry. Her proposed strategies, based on the qualitative and quantitative analysis gathered throughout the project, looked to reduce knowledge barriers across the company and facilitate an internal exchange of ideas and resources, which have the potential to contribute to creating an innovative culture, as well as increasing the company’s success.
Elena commented: “I chose to pursue an MBA as I wanted to gain a better understanding and a more strategic view of the various functions of a business. Studying at Cambridge Judge Business School was the obvious choice for me as it offered a small class, a unique mix of tradition, an excellent reputation and focuses on collaboration and diversity.
“The Cambridge MBA programme offers many options for summer activities which cater to students’ different needs. My choice was to deepen my newly acquired knowledge of the healthcare industry through an individual project and the MBA Projects Office proved to be an excellent partner in understanding my needs and facilitating my contact with a global pharmaceutical company.
“I am deeply honoured and grateful for the recognition of the Worshipful Company of Marketors’ Award as I consider it to be another token of Cambridge Judge Business School’s trust in my achievements and potential for the future.”
Sadia Cuthbert, MBA Projects Manager at Cambridge Judge Business School, commented: “I am thrilled for Elena. She really immersed herself into her summer project and her approach brought an extra dimension to this and she has made the most of this opportunity.”
The Worshipful Company of Marketors is the City of London livery company for senior people in the marketing profession. The Company’s Open Prizes Scheme supports talented individuals in participating institutions with prizes of £1,000 towards the cost of their study or innovative research.
