‘Policy Exchange’, a leading think tank, credits the school’s lecturer for firing up the Digital Government Agenda
Dr Thompson, Senior Lecturer in Information Systems, is among a group singled out for praise by a former adviser to the Prime Minister.
In his forward to ‘Smaller, Better, Faster, Stronger – remaking government for the digital age’ Rohan Silva writes that as he worked to develop the policy agenda between 2007 and 2010 Dr Thompson and three colleagues were ‘unfailingly generous‘ in giving time, ideas and patience. Without them, none of the achievements would have been possible.
At the Labour Party Conference this month, Dr Thompson took part in a discussion centred on ‘Designing a truly digital government’. He then heads for Manchester where he will discuss the same topic with, among others, Francis Maude, Cabinet Office Minister.
Dr Thompson said:
As the parties enter the manifesto season, we have a vital opportunity to shape policies to ensure C21 public services benefit from the innovation, mobility, and flexibility that digital technologies can offer. Bringing our politicians on board is an important part of this process.”
Mark also chairs the Govnet government ICT 2.0 conference today, 25 September 2013, at the QEII Conference Centre in Westminster.
