Organisational Theory and Information System seminar.

About the seminar topic

In the healthcare sector, the integration of emerging technologies has been consistently advocated as a strategy for enhancing care provision, collaboration, and organising. However, these technological solutions often do not consider the coordination and collaboration challenges involved in providing the appropriate treatment at the right time, by the right specialists, in a cost-effective manner within a framework of stringent regulations and diverse professional domains.

Building from a field study of AI implementation in surgery scheduling, I will address the emerging issue of AI’s rapid deployment in hospitals and clinical settings. I will conclude with reflections on how likely technologies such as AI can foster improved collaboration and organisational efficiency in healthcare services.
