Allègre was also invited to join the Mallen Fellowship.

The Mallen Award is formally named the ‘Carol and Bruce Mallen Prize for Published Scholarly Contributions to Motion Picture Industry Studies’, named after initiators and sponsors Carol and Bruce Mallen. Montreal-born Bruce Mallen had careers as an academic, consultant and then Hollywood film producer.

The award annually recognises distinguished business and economics published works which make an ‘extraordinary scholarly contribution’ to the field of motion picture industry studies. This year’s Mallen Conference was held virtually.

Allègre’s published papers on film and other entertainment include a 2021 study on how online streaming services are challenging long-standing decision-making processes in the traditional motion picture industry, and a 2018 study that examined the relationships of star brand equity and critical reviews with box office success.
