Barclays Eagle Labs said it was committing up to £2.5 million investment into the Venture Launchpad programme from 2023, with applications for the first cohort opening in December from ventures that require expertise in carbon intelligence, commercial mentoring and investment readiness.

The green tech-focused Barclays Eagle Lab is based in Cambridge, and has been involved in various projects with Cambridge Judge.

“Early-stage businesses from any industry will be welcome to apply, to encourage innovation in a range of areas such as decarbonising the built environment, rethinking the use of chemicals in energy production, food security and other technologies focused on reducing carbon emissions,” Carbon13 and Barclays Eagle Lab said in announcing the new programme.

Carbon13, which works with founders to build startups that can reduce CO2 emissions, was launched in 2020 by Chris Coleridge, Management Practice Associate Professor at Cambridge Judge Business School, who is CEO of the accelerator. Carbon13 has already funded 32 startup ventures through its Venture Builder programme.
