Assistant Professor in Marketing
BA (Fudan University), MPhil (The Chinese University of Hong Kong), PhD (University of California, Berkeley)
My research focuses on designing, rigorously evaluating and improving digital technologies that address real-world challenges, particularly for vulnerable and underserved populations. It examines 2 related margins: aspects of human experience that resist formal representation, and users whose circumstances fall outside mainstream system assumptions. Work spans nonverbal speech classification algorithms, paralanguage accessibility studies, haptic experience in virtual reality, surveillance pricing’s distributional effects on constrained consumers, and field experiments on AI for ultra-micro entrepreneurs in developing economies.
