Overview
The Sainsbury Management Fellows Scholarship programme was founded in 1987 by Lord Sainsbury of Turville, who hoped that learning business skills through world-class MBA studies would help engineers to set up their own high-tech businesses or progress to the top of large UK companies. The scheme has supported more than 400 engineers and created 300 new companies worth almost £5 billion in the UK.
To build on its leading reputation in scientific research, the Sainsbury MBA scholarship programme is being expanded to scientists. The Sainsbury Science Management Fellows Scholarship will award five scholarships to talented scientists who can demonstrate leadership qualities to study for a full-time MBA at Business Schools linked to the top science research universities in the UK.
Eligibility criteria
Successful candidates must
- be UK nationals, intending to reside in the UK after graduation
- have a first degree in a science or allied technology discipline (see Guide to Applicants, Annex A), preferably a first or upper-second class BSc, MSc, or a PhD
- have 4 to10 years experience, post first degree
