A brief overview of your previous work experience and career path to date

Before coming to Cambridge, I worked at Goldman Sachs in Global markets and banking division where I gained exposure to structured products and trade processes. The role gave me a strong foundation in how financial products work in practice and taught me the importance of precision, coordination and risk awareness. Over time, I realised I wanted to move closer to markets and investment decision-making, which is what led me to pursue the MFin.

Why you decided to apply to Cambridge and what attracted you to the MFin programme?

I applied to Cambridge because I wanted a programme that was both rigorous and closely connected to real financial markets. The MFin stood out to me because of its strength in areas like capital markets, risk management and knowledge about various asset classes are exactly the areas I wanted to build on. I was also drawn to the quality of the Cambridge community and the chance to learn alongside such a diverse and accomplished cohort.

What you are most looking forward to during your year in Cambridge?

I’m most looking forward to connecting what I learn in class with what is happening in markets in real time. I’m also excited about learning from my classmates being part of the wider Cambridge community and making this year both intellectually rewarding and personally memorable.

What you are hoping to achieve this year, and how it will contribute to your post-MFin career?

This year, I want to strengthen my technical understanding of finance while also building more confidence in my judgment and decision-making. My goal is to develop the skills needed for a more markets- and investing-focused role after the MFin and I see Cambridge as a key step in making that transition.

Your thoughts and feelings on being awarded an MFin scholarship?

Being awarded an MFin scholarship means a lot to me. It feels both encouraging and humbling and it has made this opportunity even more meaningful. It also motivates me to make the most of the year and contribute positively to the Cambridge community.
