Professor Sucheta Nadkarni leads a research project on career paths and gender diversity in private equity, commissioned by not-for-profit group Level 20.
Professor Sucheta Nadkarni, Sinyi Professor of Chinese Management at Cambridge Judge Business School, is leading a research project that looks at the career paths of men and women across the private equity industry.
The research was commissioned by Level 20, a not-for-profit organisation formed by a group of 12 senior women active in private equity. By gathering information about the individuals, including educational backgrounds and work history, Level 20 is hoping to get an accurate insight into gender diversity within the private equity industry.
The group has gained the support of both Invest Europe and the British Private Equity and Venture Capital Association to disseminate a questionnaire, with the goal of collecting around 1,000 responses across Europe.
The aim of the study is to drill down into participants’ study backgrounds and then the different roles they have had with various firms, in order to track them through their careers. The researchers hope to build a picture that will help private equity firms decide on best practice and identify new options to develop gender diversity.
Level 20 is aiming to present some of the study’s findings at its annual reception this November.
