Induction at Cambridge Judge Business School brought Amy Reneker and James Buckley (MBA 1999) together. They have kept it ‘in the family’ with fellow Cambridge MBA classmates as godparents to their children.
“Amy Reneker and James Buckley first met during the induction programme for the Cambridge MBA cohort, back in September 1999. Amy is American and had come to do her MBA at Cambridge Judge Business School (or the Judge Institute of Management Studies as it was known then) fresh from serving as a US Peace Corps volunteer in Kyrgyzstan. James is from Northern Ireland and had been working in the investment management industry prior to Cambridge.
“Although it is rumoured the MBA 1999 class managed to pair off more than one internal couple during the year, Amy and James were the only ones who formally outed themselves. They got married in August 2002, with a wedding ceremony in Trinity Hall’s chapel (Amy’s College), then travelled by punt down to a reception at Pembroke College (James’s College). Amy and James are fortunate enough to see many of their MBA classmates frequently. Catherine Rainey (MBA 1999) is godmother to their son Ciaran, and Joni Rendon (MBA 1999) is godmother to their daughter Beth.
“Career-wise, James has been at the investment firm Barings since 2005, heading up their European Equities desk. Amy works part-time as a project manager and is heavily involved in various volunteer charity and community endeavours.”
