A brief overview of your previous work experience/career path up to this point
I spent nearly 4 years at Morgan Stanley in the Prime Brokerage division, managing margin lifecycle operations for hedge fund and institutional clients across EMEA, North America and APAC. I led automation projects that delivered meaningful time savings, redesigned quality control processes and was recognised with multiple Outstanding Client Service awards. Working at the intersection of operations and complex financial products deepened my understanding of markets and solidified my ambition to pivot into a more front office-facing finance career, which ultimately led me to the Master of Finance (MFin) programme at Cambridge.
Why you decided to apply to Cambridge, and what attracted you to the MFin programme?
Cambridge was always the dream. What truly sets the MFin apart is its post-experience cohort, every student brings real industry knowledge to the table, which means you learn as much from your peers as you do from world-class faculty. The programme strikes a rare balance between rigorous academic theory and practical application and the breadth of electives gives you the freedom to explore new directions within finance rather than being boxed into one path. For me, it was the ideal environment to broaden my perspective and sharpen my ambitions.
What you are looking forward to the most about your year in Cambridge
Honestly, I am most excited about the back-to-school experience. The chance to step away from the daily grind and immerse myself in learning again. Cambridge brings together people from vastly different cultural backgrounds and career paths within finance and I find that incredibly energising. Whether it’s debating ideas in a seminar or chatting over coffee at the café, I’m looking forward to the unexpected conversations and perspectives that only a cohort this diverse can offer.
What you are to achieve this year, and how it will contribute towards your post-MFin career
Beyond the academics, my biggest goal is to build the confidence and network to navigate new corners of finance with conviction. I want to become someone who can walk into any room, be it an investor meeting, a conference or a casual industry dinner and hold my own. The City Speakers series, alumni network and collaborative cohort are the perfect launchpad for that. I believe the relationships and self-assurance I build here will be the foundation of everything I do next.
Your thoughts and feelings on being awarded an MFin scholarship
Being awarded the scholarship was a lovely surprise and a real confidence boost heading into the programme. It’s reassuring to know that Cambridge Judge Business School sees potential in my journey so far. Practically, it allows me to engage with everything the MFin has to offer with a clear mind, from electives to networking events, without second guessing myself. I’m grateful for the support and excited to make the most of the year ahead.
