CPSL Mind Training Services

Past ventures

CPSL Mind Training Services graduated from Cambridge Social Ventures in September 2019.

CPSL Mind offers a wide range of mental health related training to public, private and voluntary sector organisations in Peterborough and Cambridgeshire. This includes standardised internationally recognised courses such as Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) and Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST) and bespoke courses such as Managing Mental Health in the Workplace for line managers and Strengthening Personal Resilience for all staff.

The offer includes chargeable courses to corporate and statutory sector clients to help embed positive mental health in the workplace, and grant-funded training for community and voluntary organisations to upskill their staff and volunteers.

All of CPSL Mind’s training includes educating people to keep themselves well using the 5 Ways to Wellbeing and challenging stigma and discrimination.

CPSL Mind also develops bespoke specialist courses for individual clients as required, and offers support to clients to develop an organisational wellbeing strategy and embed learning to promote cultural change.

This venture is currently overseen by CPSL Mind’s Director of Development Emily Gray, and Training Manager Ruth Brown, supported by a part-time Training Services Administrator and New Business Lead. CPSL Mind has several experienced Staff Trainers, and a pool of Associate Trainers with a range of specialist skills and backgrounds, including human resources, public health, armed forces and children and young people’s mental health which enables them to match trainer knowledge and experience to the clients’ needs and context.

The training service is also supported from time to time by volunteers who are looking for work experience to give them skills and confidence to re-enter the workplace.

CPSL Mind’s organisational mission is that everyone who faces mental health challenges has equal access to the support they need to recover, and can live a fulfilling life without fear of discrimination. They aim to promote positive mental health and tackle mental health related stigma and discrimination within the local community.

The specific vision of CPSL Mind Training Services is to:
challenge mental health related workplace stigma and discrimination, promote cultural change to create mentally health workplaces, educate individuals on how to look after their own wellbeing, generate income to support the wider work of CPSL Mind.
