Join us for a behavioural roundtable in the community

Man drinking from bottle.

Join Behavioural Economics and Policy researchers for an informed discussion with local residents and activists about how smart choices preserve biodiversity, slash food waste and prevent energy overconsumption.

This is a civic edition of the EEI signature events series – The Behavioural Roundtable.

The Behavioural Roundtable is a speaker series hosted by the El-Erian Institute. It serves to convene practitioners and researchers in the field of behavioural insights to share experiences from the field and discuss latest scientific insight.

This will be the 16th iteration of the series and the first one held outside of the Institute – hosted at a newly opened hub, that runs as a partnership between Cambridgeshire County Council, Cambridge City Council and the Cherry Hinton Community Benefit Society (CHCBS), in consultation with residents.

This would be an opportunity to include civic local voices and lived experience insight, in relation to sustainability interventions and initiatives

This talk, with researchers from The El-Erian Institute of Behavioural Economics and Policy (EEI) and University of Cambridge Judge Business School, will feature:

  • Aga Niedzwiecka, Research Centre Manager
  • Dr Atiyeh Yeganloo, Research Associate
  • Dr Shruti Surachita, Research Associate
  • Piotr Lipinski, Research Assistant
  • Arjun Kamdar, PhD Researcher

It will explore how the subtle, science-backed power of nudges can be deployed to tackle the most urgent environmental challenges.

The EEI lab team will demonstrate how their studies advise cities, villages and communities to become more sustainable through small, well-designed and systematic changes.

Among the topics to be discussed with the local community include:

  • reducing plastic pollution, public opinion
and cultural perceptions
  • game theory and why people may or may not choose a greener lifestyle
  • how governments and municipalities are learning about what people need to make greener choices
