Jan Metzger

Jan has over 25 years of experience in investment banking. For the last 10 years, he has been at Citi, first as world-wide co-head of Technology Investment Banking and, since 2018 as the Head of Investment Banking APAC. Jan began his career as a software engineer working on artificial intelligence and voice recognition. As Head of APAC Investment Banking, Jan advises local corporates and MNCs on their strategic advisory and financing needs. He also regularly counsels boards of directors and CEOs on how to utilise AI and knowledge management to ensure they stay relevant and embrace technology.

Having been the CTO of a voice recognition startup early in his career, Jan has a passion for entrepreneurs and innovation. Jan sponsors a scholarship in artificial intelligence and regularly partners with universities and organisations around the world to organise competitions and training for entrepreneurs building their first companies.

Since 2015, Jan has authored the TMT Content Sunday, which analyses early-stage disruptive technologies. Jan has a bachelor’s degree with a double major in both economics and computer science from the University of Sussex. He also holds an MPhil from the University of Cambridge.
