A brief overview of your previous work experience/career path up to this point
Prior to the Master of Finance (MFin) programme, I worked for over 5 years in banking and capital markets in India, across both public and private sector institutions. I began my career at the State Bank of India, where I worked closely with retail clients and gained exposure to credit evaluation and due diligence. I later joined ICICI Bank’s Capital Markets and Custody Group, managing institutional relationships and working within highly regulated financial environments. These experiences shaped my interest in financial systems, risk management and the broader role finance plays in society.
Why did you decide to apply to Cambridge, and what attracted you to the MFin programme?
Cambridge has always represented a legacy of intellectual curiosity, rigorous thinking, and quiet excellence. I was drawn to the MFin programme because of its balance between academic depth and practical relevance. The opportunity to learn within an institution that has shaped generations of scholars, while engaging closely with industry practitioners, felt both grounding and inspiring. I was particularly attracted to the programme’s emphasis on thoughtful leadership and global perspective.
What you are looking forward to the most about your year in Cambridge
I am most looking forward to learning alongside peers from diverse professional and cultural backgrounds. Being part of such an accomplished cohort creates space for meaningful conversations that extend beyond the classroom. I value the opportunity to grow intellectually while also building lifelong relationships within the Cambridge community. College life at Hughes Hall further enriches this experience, offering a strong sense of belonging within a historic institution.
What you are hoping to achieve this year, and how it will contribute towards your post-MFin career
This year, I hope to deepen my analytical capabilities and strengthen my understanding of global financial markets. More importantly, I aim to refine my ability to think critically and make well-reasoned decisions in complex environments. I believe the discipline and perspective gained at Cambridge will help me contribute more thoughtfully and responsibly in my post-MFin career.
Your thoughts and feelings on being awarded an MFin scholarship
Receiving an MFin scholarship is both humbling and deeply meaningful to me. It reflects the trust the University has placed in my potential and journey so far. Coming from a modest background, this support has made it possible for me to be part of Cambridge’s long-standing academic tradition. I feel grateful for the opportunity and look forward to growing within this community.
