Rémy El Youssef, a recent Cambridge MBA graduate (MBA 2024) of Cambridge Judge Business School who hails from Lebanon, has been named to the 2025 MBAs to Watch list by business school publication Poets & Quants.

Before beginning his Cambridge MBA degree, Rémy worked at a family-business hospital in Lebanon that serves more than 1,000 patients a month, and is now exploring healthcare and fintech ideas for the future. “I am passionate about making populations healthier and improving access to financing for consumers and businesses,” he told Poets & Quants.

Asked why he chose Cambridge Judge, Rémy said that the Business School “was the best school for me that combined the areas I wanted to explore which are not solely reliant on business knowledge – entrepreneurship, healthcare, and finance. My great learnings in these areas during my MBA year have been instrumental in preparing me for my future entrepreneurial career goals.”

Impressive but humble classmates ready to help

In choosing Cambridge Judge, Rémy first contacted about 10 alumni about the programme and broader experience. “All of them had mentioned how tight a community the MBAs are with one another at Cambridge. I can confidently say that they were right. Although everyone boasts impressive backgrounds and achievements, everyone is very humble and always ready to help.”

Rémy was co-head of the Special Interest Group (SIG) focused on technology at Cambridge Judge. He describes in the publication how artificial intelligence (AI) has been incorporated into learning at the Business School, and how the Careers team at Cambridge Judge has encouraged students to use AI tools as a training partner for an interview, project pitch or in preparing a case study.

Poised for impact in healthcare and technology

Together with his study group, [Rémy] has developed an innovative startup concept: an app-based service that links a portion of children’s pocket money to health-promoting behaviours, encouraging positive habits early in life.

Stefan Scholtes, Dennis Gillings Professor of Health Management and Director of the Centre for Health Leadership and Enterprise (CCHLE) at Cambridge Judge, was asked by Poets & Quants what made Rémy such an invaluable addition to his Cambridge MBA class. Stefan said:

“Rémy has a fascinating background, with his family operating a hospital in northern Lebanon, near the Syrian border. He brought a unique blend of commercial acumen and a deeply mission-driven mindset to the class. Together with his study group, he has developed an innovative startup concept: an app-based service that links a portion of children’s pocket money to health-promoting behaviours, encouraging positive habits early in life. Rémy is a promising future leader in healthcare, poised to make a significant impact in his country.”
