Sandra Dawson Research Impact Award
Helen Haugh
Professor of Operations Research
Helen was honoured for her significant contributions to creating real-world impact through research. Through her research Helen has surveyed 334 churches in Cambridgeshire, finding that despite their huge value to local communities just one in 5 of our churches are on sound financial footing. Helen’s research provides a huge quantity of free resources online to guide these churches in bolstering their financial sustainability, and the importance of this issue has recently been recognised by the Scottish government. Further research on this subject by Helen is forthcoming in the prestigious Journal of Management.
The Sandra Dawson Research Impact Award was established through a generous donation from Professor Dame Sandra Dawson, a former Director (Dean) of Cambridge Judge. Winners are chosen based on reach (the extent and diversity of the organisations which have benefited from the research) and significance (the degree to which the impact has influenced or changed the policies, opportunities, perspectives or practice of non-academic organisations).

Case Study Award
Feryal Erhun
Professor of Operations and Technology Management
Feryal was honoured for her internationally regarded teaching case To Restructure or Not to Restructure? Rolls-Royce Weighs Its Options During a Supply Chain Crisis. Readers of this case study are asked to deal with a supply chain crisis occurring during the development of a new jet engine, and it considers the complexities of a 2-tiered global supply chain. The case study puts the company’s reputation at stake against the backdrop of an uncertain personal relationship between the protagonist and her new boss. The case has been downloaded by 22 different organisations across 4 continents.

Practitioner Publication Award
Khaled (Khal) Soufani
Management Practice Professor of Financial Economics and Policy
Khal was honoured for an article, entitled Method for Assessing Circular Business Cases, which was published in the MIT Sloan Management Review in July 2025. The article introduces a new approach to financial analysis for circular business models, outlining how traditional analyses are inappropriate for circular business models in considering potential profitability, risk and long-term financial performance. The award is based on the immediate impact of this publication, as well as the combined impact of Khal’s 4 other practitioner publications this year.
