The awards were announced at a 7 November ceremony at the InterContinental London Park Lane Hotel attended by more than 600 guests from business, politics and other organisations. The Diversity Team of the Year Award, sponsored by entertainment company Paramount, was accepted by Jennifer Waller Martin, Executive Director of EMBA programmes, and Manaz Javaid, Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Manager at Cambridge Judge.
“We are delighted that the EMBA team at Cambridge Judge Business School was recognised for its work to advance diversity in every aspect of our programmes,” said Jennifer. “It was a special honour, as the other nominees were all businesses and organisations that often have whole teams dedicated to this work. The EMBA team has worked with colleagues throughout the Business School to ensure that diversity, equality and inclusion (DEI) are built into every aspect of Cambridge Judge.”
Adds Manaz: “This recognition of the EMBA team as Diversity Team of the Year reflects the dedication among the EMBA programme and throughout the Business School to embed DEI into our strategy, our daily activities and our mindset. This hard work will continue to make Cambridge Judge a diverse and welcoming place to study, to work and to engage with people of all nationalities, backgrounds and beliefs.”
Recent diversity initiatives at Cambridge Judge that formed part of the EMBA team’s submission for the award included research that identified barriers faced by prospective female EMBA candidates that led to a dedicated Women’s Scholarship, special panel discussions to mark International Men’s Day and International Women’s Day, and social media campaigns to mark special occasions such as Ramadan, Yom Kippur, Diwali and Easter. In addition, the EMBA team has been involved in activities to welcome students and other stakeholders from diverse communities including ethnic minorities, the LGTBQIA+ community and the neurodiverse community.
European Diversity Awards recognise achievements in all strands of diversity
The awards launched in 2010 “recognise achievement across all strands of diversity: age, disability, gender, marriage and civil partnership, pregnancy and maternity, race, religion or belief, social mobility and sexual orientation”, the organisers say on their website.
Among other winners chosen from hundreds of nominations around Europe, Munich Re was named Company of the Year for embedding diversity and inclusion across its business globally. Pop singer Boy George was honoured with a Lifetime Achievement Award, and the event featured a live performance from singer Beverley Knight.
The EMBA team has worked with colleagues throughout the Business School to ensure that diversity, equality and inclusion (DEI) are built into every aspect of Cambridge Judge.
Said Linda Riley, Founder of the European Diversity Awards: “Each year, the European Diversity Awards celebrate those who are driving real change – people and organisations proving that inclusion isn’t just an idea, it’s action. This year’s winners truly embody that spirit. Their work is helping to build a fairer, more connected Europe for everyone.”
