Professional history

Luya Duan is a highly experienced professional in Asian regions with extensive experience in international education management, strategic development, and cross-cultural collaboration. Over the years, she has held key leadership roles across British educational institutions, contributing to their international growth and outreach.

As Managing Director for China at Oxford International Education Group, Luya leads the organisation’s regional development and operations. She drives growth strategies across multiple major business units, and she also leads a diverse team, ensuring strong collaboration across departments and implementing effective business development strategies to expand the organisation’s presence in China.

Previously, as Regional Director for China and Mongolia at BPP Professional Education Group, Luya shaped and managed the company’s growth in both markets. She was also instrumental in establishing BPP’s Asia Hub in Hong Kong and Wholly Owned Foreign Enterprise (WOFE) operations in Shanghai with branch offices across China.

Earlier in her career, Luya worked at the Chinese Embassy in the UK, supporting diplomatic education initiatives. In this role, she worked closely with the Minister Counsellor for Education and the Chinese Ambassador to the UK, helping to foster bilateral education cooperation.

Luya has demonstrated a long-standing commitment to fostering educational engagement and community-building initiatives.

In her current role as Queens’ Global Ambassador for Mainland China at Queens’ College, University of Cambridge, Luya plays a vital role in strengthening the College’s presence across the region. She is responsible for establishing and nurturing regional alumni communities, fostering deeper connections between graduates and the college. Through organising events, she facilitates networking and engagement opportunities for alumni. In addition, Luya actively supports fundraising efforts by working closely with the College’s leadership to co-ordinate visits and promote development initiatives. Her work has successfully expanded the College’s alumni network while enhancing engagement with key stakeholders in China.
