Join us for the Institute’s annual lecture delivered by behavioural scientist and Wharton professor Katy Milkman, who co-founded the Behaviour Change for Good Initiative.
Milkman’s pioneering research explores how insights from economics and psychology can be harnessed to change consequential behaviours for good, such as savings, exercise, volunteering and student achievement. She will present an overview of her work on the science of behaviour change and will describe her research team’s unique approach to testing and scaling behaviour change strategies through massive, rigorous field experiments dubbed ‘megastudies’.
This annual lecture will mark the fifth anniversary of the establishment of the Institute at Cambridge Judge Business School.
The El-Erian Institute of Behavioural Economics and Policy (EEI) at Cambridge Judge Business School, is dedicated to researching human behaviour and decision-making and its implications for the formation and implementation of public policy. By leveraging the combined expertise of faculty at Cambridge Judge Business School and researchers across the University of Cambridge, the Institute aims to identify new ways to address social challenges and improve lives. EEI was created by a generous donation from University of Cambridge alumnus Dr Mohamed A El-Erian. The donation is divided between the University and Queens’ College.

Katy Milkman is the James G Dinan Professor at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, host of Charles Schwab’s popular behavioural economics podcast Choiceology and the former president of the international Society for Judgment and Decision Making. Over the course of her career, Katy has worked with or advised dozens of organisations on how to spur positive change, including Google, the White House, Walmart and the US Department of Defense. She has published over 70 papers in leading academic journals such as Nature, The Journal of Finance and The Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences. Selected as one of the world’s top 50 management thinkers by Thinkers50 and a top 10 innovator shaping the future of health by Fortune Magazine, Katy is an award-winning teacher and researcher who writes frequently about behavioural science for major media outlets such as The Washington Post, The New York Times, CNN and The Economist.
