Financial Regulation & Law Internship Programme

The programme

The Financial Regulation and Law Internship Programme at the Cambridge Centre for Alternative Finance (CCAF), at the University of Cambridge Judge Business School, is intended for students pursuing education in legal research, policy and governance. It is especially suitable for law students who have an interest in the application of technologies to the domain of financial law and regulation. The work will be based in Cambridge, UK.

Internship focus: financial regulation annotation 

This area of work involves curating legal and regulatory documents for algorithmic training and analysis. The required skills are legal research, including regulatory documents tracking, and legislative analysis. Familiarity with legal research tools such as LexisNexis is expected, and additional knowledge about technology applications to legal systems including data analysis, and natural language processing is highly desirable. Coding and development skills are not required for this position. 

Requirements and qualifications

  • Working full-time in Cambridge for minimum two months.
  • Either current students or recent graduates with a law or policy background.
  • Achieving at least a UK 2:1 degree (or equivalent).
  • Ability to take ownership and deliver on defined projects, intellectual curiosity, quick learning, self-motivated and contribute positively to teamwork.


  • Selected candidates will be compensated according to individual personal circumstances. 
  • You will work with a world-leading research institute and experts in the alternative finance, and the Centre's network of influential collaborative partners across the world.


You will need to submit both a CV and covering letter with your application, and you will also need to have taken the personality test and have your personality type outcome ready to provide as part of your application. Please indicate if you wish to be considered with Global Internship Programme of volunteer-based work if not selected by this Programme.
