Several companies associated with Cambridge Judge Business
School were honoured at the 2019 Cambridge Independent Science and Technology
Awards announced on 30 October at the Bradfield Centre at the Cambridge Science
The AI Company of the Year award was won by Healx, which finds treatment for rare diseases by repurposing already approved drugs. Satavia, a company that uses AI to predict damage to aircraft engines and components, was Highly Commended in this category. Both Healx and Satavia were formerly on the Accelerate Cambridge programme at the Entrepreneurship Centre at Cambridge Judge.
The Agritech Company of the Year award was won by KisanHub, which provides an agricultural supply chain intelligence system that connects farmers and food businesses. KisanHub was previously on both the Accelerate Cambridge and Cambridge Social Ventures programmes at Cambridge Judge.
Goshawk Communications, which seeks to improve mobile-phone communications for people with hearing impairment, was Highly Commended in the Tech for Good award category. Goshawk Communications was previously on the Cambridge Social Ventures programme.
Healx, Satavia and KisanHub also participated in the SME Growth Challenge run by the Entrepreneurship Centre at Cambridge Judge, which helps small and medium-sized enterprises turn themselves into growth companies.
The Entrepreneurship Centre sponsored the Medtech Company of the Year category at this year’s Independent Science and Technology Awards, which was won by clinical decision support company Congenica, while inflammatory disease testing company PredictImmune was Highly Commended in this category. The award was presented at the ceremony by Bruno Cotta, Executive Director of the Entrepreneurship Centre.
There were 15 categories at this year’s Cambridge
Independent awards, including two for individuals, and the contest attracted a
record number of entries.
“It was fantastic to celebrate the talent and innovation in
our region,” said Cambridge Independent Editor Paul Brackley, who hosted the
awards. “I would like to congratulate all our finalists, particularly our
winners, and thank our sponsors for helping us to hold this uplifting event.”
