Two members of the Cambridge Judge Business School faculty, Kamiar Mohaddes and Christopher Marquis, were named runners-up in the Financial Times Responsible Business Education Awards announced on 19 January 2022.

Kamiar and Christopher were cited in the category for “Academic research with impact”, which is awarded to papers that “address societal challenges, with evidence of impact on policy or practice.”

Dr Kamiar Mohaddes is Associate Professor in Economics & Policy at Cambridge Judge and a Fellow of King’s College, University of Cambridge. Kamiar and his colleagues were cited for a paper entitled “Rising Temperatures, Falling Ratings: The Effect of Climate Change on Sovereign Creditworthiness”, which examines the link between sound climate change policies and the sovereign credit ratings of nations.

The paper was co-authored by Patrycja Klusak, Matthew Agarwala, Matt Burke and Kamiar Mohaddes of the University of Cambridge, and Moritz Kraemer of SOAS University of London.

Professor Christopher Marquis

Christopher Marquis is Sinyi Professor of Chinese Management at Cambridge Judge, having joined the Business School faculty earlier this month. He was cited by the Financial Times for a book he wrote while in his previous role at SC Johnson College of Business, Cornell University, entitled Better Business: How the B Corp Movement Is Remaking Capitalism.

The book, published by Yale University Press, explores the rapid growth of companies choosing to certify as B Corporations that commit to putting social benefits, the rights of workers and environmental matters on equal footing with financial shareholders.
