MPhil admissions: what happens next?

Here’s an overview of the stages in the MPhil admissions process:

Stage 1 – Receipt of application

Once the Postgraduate Admissions Office has received your application and your supporting documentation it will process your application. The Postgraduate Admissions Office will send you an acknowledgement letter and ID number if you made a paper application; online applicants will receive this information by email.

Stage 2 – Application review

Cambridge Judge Business School’s Admissions Committee will meet to review applications and a decision is then made as to whether to make you a conditional offer.

If your application is accepted the Postgraduate Admissions Office will notify you by email and the Applicant Portal. You will also receive access to the Self-Service account. The Self-Service account tells you everything you need to know about the progress of your application, and it is also where you can provide documents to meet your offer conditions. You will also be able to print a summary certificate of offer from your Self-Service account.

If your application is not accepted, the Postgraduate Admissions Office will notify you by email and the Applicant Portal.

Stage 3 – Conditional offer

If your application is accepted the Postgraduate Admissions Office will send you a formal offer letter (via email) and will provide access to the Self-Service account.

Your offer of a place on the programme will tend to come with conditions attached. These might be financial (proving that you have the funds to support yourself while on the programme), language (proving that your English language skills are proficient), academic, or the provision of original documents. It is your responsibility to meet these requirements and to let the Postgraduate Admissions Office know when you have done so by providing the necessary documentary evidence.

Stage 4 – Unconditional offer

This is the final stage of the applications process. Once you have met all the conditions of your admission and have the offer of a college place, the Postgraduate Admissions Office will notify you by email and the Self-Service account (and a Confirmation of Acceptance of Study (CAS) certificate for visa application where appropriate). This notification confirms that you may begin your MPhil programme at the start of the academic year.

At this stage you can now start to make arrangements, such as visa applications where applicable, and arranging your accommodation in Cambridge.
