Ayşegül Kanca: Creating value at the intersection of business and community

What led you to choose the Cambridge MBA?

I learn best in communities where people are kind, curious, and ambitious. Cambridge alumni repeatedly told me Cambridge is exactly that. The College system makes forming deep ties effortless and the one-year format aligns with my goals. Add in the Cambridge ecosystem around entrepreneurship and it felt like the right place to choose. 

What has been your biggest career accomplishment so far?

My biggest accomplishment is my pro bono practice. Using my legal skills to solve real problems for clients who lack access to counsel has been the most meaningful and lasting impact of my career. 

How do you feel about receiving your scholarship?

I feel honoured and grateful. The scholarship is a reminder that my effort has been recognized by a world class institution and it strengthens my commitment to give back, take initiative and help my cohort succeed. 

What do you hope to gain from the MBA over the next year?

My goal is to form strong friendships, stretch myself with new experiences and translate what I learn into a clearer purpose and path for the next stage of my career.

Where do you see the MBA taking you in your future career?

I want the MBA to equip me to create value at the intersection of business and community, as well as position me for leadership roles.

What does Cambridge mean to you?

Cambridge means belonging to an exceptionally talented extended family and a legacy of excellence and wisdom.

I strongly wanted to be a vet growing up and my party trick is obscure animal facts.
