What led you to choose the Cambridge MBA?
Having spent the last few years in sports production I’m excited by the growth in women’s sports and want to pivot functions within the industry. Getting my MBA will strengthen the skills I need to not only transition, but to do so from a more advanced position. I sought a programme which would build upon my knowledge and challenging me to adopt new ways of thinking. The Creative Industries in the Digital Age Concentration allows me to tailor my experience, learning in alignment with this moment of innovation and expansion in sports businesses. Beyond the concentration, Cambridge presents the opportunity to learn amongst a global cohort, broadening my understanding of business and my sector with diverse perspectives. The prestige and culture of the Cambridge MBA make this programme the perfect fit for me.
What has been your biggest career accomplishment so far?
My biggest accomplishment thus far was working on the Tokyo 2020 and Beijing 2022 Olympics. During both games I pitched stories which developed into pieces distributed at a national level. I’m passionate about sports, but storytelling is my first love. My supervisor’s support boosted my confidence, but I hadn’t anticipated the additional self-assurance I gained from seeing the reach of the final pieces. I learned how malleable stories can be a rewarding lesson indicative of what more I am capable of.
How do you feel about receiving your scholarship?
I’m excited, grateful and honoured to receive the Professional Impact award. I’ve long felt that the sports industry sits at an intersection between business and culture, primed to promote positive social impact. Receiving this grant validates that the team at Cambridge Judge supports my vision and ability to succeed in the programme.
I’m also grateful to be named a Forte Fellow and look forward to fostering connections with like-minded women as I embark on my MBA. My background is not the most traditional and this network provides additional support during my studies as well as the chance to give back to others throughout my career.
What do you hope to gain from the MBA over the next year?
I look forward to deepening my business acumen and starting to build the career I envision. The world is ever changing, with new technologies and societal trends driving changes in business. I’m ready to learn how businesses adapt from my professors and cohort. The energy we shared during interview day was magnetic and I hope to carry that forward on our journeys. And lastly, the Cambridge experience. This institution has a rich history and unique vibrancy and I’m excited to spend the year living here.
Where do you see the MBA taking you in your future career?
Long-term I aim to own a women’s sports consultancy firm, addressing the industry’s unique challenges through strategy and partnerships. The Cambridge MBA will provide the knowledge, skills and network for me to nurture and grow my dreams into reality.
What does Cambridge mean to you?
For me Cambridge means growth. It’s a dream come true to attend this university and be a part of its intricate legacy. I know this year will challenge me personally and professionally and I look forward to the coming transformation.
