Julie Deane, Founder and CEO of The Cambridge Satchel Company and a member of the Advisory Board of Cambridge Judge Business School, was named a Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) in the June Queen’s Birthday Honours.

Julie was honoured for services to Entrepreneurship and Manufacturing. She had previously, in December 2014, been appointed an Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) for Services to Entrepreneurship.

A graduate of the University of Cambridge, Julie worked at Deloitte and qualified as a chartered accountant before returning to Gonville and Caius College, Cambridge, where she was the first Fellow for Development and the Registrary.

She founded The Cambridge Satchel Company in 2008 from her kitchen table, and the firm now sells its satchels in 120 countries around the world. Among other activities, the company works with The Prince’s Foundation to help find hidden talent among young people.
