The partnership model
The MBA has the maximum impact when participants work closely in partnership with the Careers team. The Career Development Programme is carefully designed to be both adaptable to individual needs and to deliver the broad range of skills needed to achieve significant professional transformations.
According to the partnership model, MBAs receive one-to-one coaching throughout the year from members of the dedicated MBA Careers Team based at the School as well as from external Careers Consultants with specialism in industry sectors.
The Career Development Programme covers three key strands:
- understanding yourself and defining your career goals
- job search and planning skills
- making successful job applications and effective interview skills.
Resources and support
Career advice and information
Using a range of resources, industry experts and career professionals, the team will help you to understand your drivers and goals and have the skills and confidence to achieve the job you are looking for.
Practical workshops and surgeries
The programme of workshops and surgeries is designed to give you the skills to achieve your job goals. These structured sessions provide the tools to help you define your personal career goals, plan your career strategy, conduct research and job searches and then manage the application and interview process.
The team recognise that you all have different needs and experience so alongside core sessions, many of the workshops are optional, enabling you to tailor the career provision to suit you.

Individual advisory and coaching
In-depth, individual advisory and coaching sessions with the MBA Careers Team and Career Consultants are available throughout the academic year. The sessions will start at the end of October, after you have completed the initial phase of careers courses and workshops, and are designed to debrief your self-assessment report, identify and refine your career goals, and support you in developing a realistic strategy to get the job you want.
Throughout the year, the team run a variety of events hosted by leading name employers. Employers also post roles on the Online Careers Centre, contact students directly having identified them as potential candidates, and work one-to-one with the Careers Team to share job opportunities. The team also work with companies to arrange student visits to their offices as well as co-ordinating company visits and/or webinars through our MBA alumni connections, giving students an insider perspective of working in specific industries and companies.
