Professor Oriana Bandiera, from the London School of Economics (LSE), will be visiting Cambridge Judge Business School on 8 March to talk as a guest speaker about the role of incentives in businesses and organisations working in developing countries.
Organised by Managing4Development, a student initiative at Cambridge Judge Business School, the talk entitled ‘Incentives in Organisations’ will cover the role incentives play in fighting poverty, as well as looking at the exciting work that has recently been carried out in development economics. Professor Bandiera will survey this field and discuss her latest research running a large randomised control trial in Zambia that sold female condoms through hair salons, with different incentive schemes producing dramatically different outcomes.
As well as her role as Professor of Economics at the LSE, Professor Bandiera also directs the Suntory and Toyota International Centres for Economics and Related Disciplines. She is a research fellow of the Centre of Economic Policy Research (CEPR), the Jameel Poverty Action Lab (JPAL) and the Bureau for Research and Economics Analysis of Development (BREAD), recently publishing in the Quality Journal of Economics (QJE) and the Journal of Economic Perspectives.
