Two start-up alumni of Cambridge Social Ventures, part of the Centre for Social Innovation at Cambridge Judge, named in ‘Digital Innovators’ list.
Goshawk Communications and Cambridge Bio-Augmentation Systems, two start-ups that were supported by the Cambridge Social Ventures programme at Cambridge Judge Business School, were included in the healthtech category of the “Digital Innovators Power List 2016” published in business newspaper City A.M.
Goshawk Communications has developed technology that boosts the clarity of mobile phones or other devices for people with hearing loss. The start-up seeks to help people with hearing impairment to communicate and integrate more fully with society, and is developing a software platform that will tailor to individual hearing needs.
Cambridge Bio-Augmentation Systems is developing an integrated medical device that will provide the interface between an advanced prosthetic and the body. The team aims to improve and standardise the connection between bionic devices and the neural and soft-tissue systems of the body. The technology will allow patients to have their choice of plug-and-play prosthetics, and seeks to improve the quality of care and associated costs for healthcare providers.
Both start-ups are alumni of Cambridge Social Ventures.
The Digital Innovators Power List 2016 showcases 20 of the most innovative digital-led British companies in different sectors, such as healthtech, cyber security, fintech and edtech. The list was compiled by City A.M. and international law firm Bird & Bird, with support from digital association Digital Catapult, tech PR agency Hotwire PR and information platform Springwise.
Judges said the selected companies are “using technology and innovation to shake up their sectors” and are “setting trends in their respective sectors”.
