Professors Mark de Rond and Shahzad (Shaz) Ansari of Cambridge Judge win top honours at the annual conference of the European Group on Organization Studies (EGOS) in Estonia.
Professor Mark de Rond and Professor Shaz Ansari of Cambridge Judge Business School won top honours at the annual conference of the European Group on Organization Studies (EGOS) held in Tallinn, Estonia, this month.
Mark, Professor of Organisational Ethnography, won the EGOS Best Book Award for his book Doctors at War: Life and Death in a Field Hospital, which chronicled the six weeks he spent embedded with military surgeons at Camp Bastion in Afghanistan in 2011. The book was published last year by Cornell University Press.
Shaz, Professor of Strategy and Innovation, and Julianne Reinecke, a professor at King’s College London and Cambridge Judge Research Fellow, won the That’s Interesting! Award for their paper “Targets as allies or adversaries: An international framing perspective on the ‘activist’s dilemma’”. This award honours papers that “cross intellectual boundaries, challenge taken-for granted assumptions, attract the reader’s attention and make an original argument”.
In addition, Cambridge Judge PhD candidate Corinna Frey was shortlisted for two best paper awards at the conference, the EGOS Best Student Paper Award and the Max Boisot Award, which honours papers that look at the knowledge-based study of complex organisations and systems – for her paper (with Cambridge Judge Professor Michael Barrett) entitled “A pragmatic view on multisectoral knowledge”.
