The company, which helps solve some of the world’s most complex data visualisation challenges, has been honoured with the coveted Queen’s Award for Enterprise in the Innovation category. Founder Dr Joe Parry is an alumnus of Cambridge Judge Business School’s Ignite programme.

He developed the idea for Cambridge Intelligence in 2011, attending Ignite shortly afterwards in order to improve key skills and learn how to access funding and investment. Ignite – an intense one-week training programme which takes place every year in Cambridge – is aimed at tech entrepreneurs who are looking to commercialise a business idea or innovation. Ignite provides practical teaching sessions, expert clinics, mentoring sessions and support from innovators who have experience in the sector.

The Queen’s Awards for Enterprise are awarded to companies based on the recommendation of the Prime Minister, which is then approved by Her Majesty the Queen – who will host a reception for winners at Buckingham Palace this summer.

Cambridge Intelligence license a piece of technology called Keylines, a unique data visualisation toolkit. The new software product enables clients to rapidly identify patterns and analyse connections within large quantities of data.

“We license to around 65 organisations globally, and these range from national police forces to banks, building societies and insurance firms,” said Parry, adding that the company has several clients in the fast-growing cyber-security field.
