Lånekassen is both a bank and part of the welfare state. Since its establishment, they have offered loans and grants to pupils and students, with the aim of giving all Norwegian citizens access to education, regardless of background.
This loan is open to Norwegian students wishing to study abroad.
Lånekassen provides support for educations in countries outside the Nordic countries that can provide a basis for general approval from NOKUT (National body for quality in education) as equivalent to Norwegian bachelor’s, master’s and PhD educations.
