Cambridge MBA alumnus Dr Vassili Apostolopoulos wins British Council’s Lifetime Achievement Award at the Study UK Alumni Awards.
Dr Vassili Apostolopoulos, a Cambridge MBA graduate of Cambridge Judge Business School (MBA 1995) who is CEO of the Athens Medical Group and The Apostolopoulos Group, has won the British Council’s Lifetime Achievement Award of the Study UK Alumni Awards 2020 in Greece.
The award was announced 14 October at an online ceremony hosted by the British Ambassador to Greece, HE Kate Smith CMG, and Director of the British Council in Greece, Anastasia Andritsou. The Lifetime Achievement Award 2020 recognises alumni who studied at a UK university more than 15 years ago and who have contributed to UK-Greece relations.
British Ambassador HE Kate Smith CMG said: “Celebrating Greek alumni of British universities as we do is an opportunity to highlight the very best of the relationship between Greece and the UK. The experience of the academic excellence and all the opportunities that pursuing a course of study or research in the UK provides forges deep and lasting personal bonds, but it also strengthens the co-operation between our countries across a wide range of policy, business, science and social endeavours.”
Vassili was described by the Study UK Alumni Awards 2020 as a “visionary entrepreneur who has advanced British-Hellenic relations on several levels,” and through his deep networks “has bridged the alumni networks in Greece and the UK with leading business associations and high-visibility events in Greece and Europe.”
Among other achievements, the awards noted his support for the Athens Cambridge Entrepreneurship Forum and the first event outside the UK of the Centre for International Business and Management, as well as his relationships with the Prince’s Trust International spearheaded by HRH Prince Charles of Wales.
