Chairman, China Association for Public Companies
Dr Jianzhou Wang is the former Executive Chairman of China Mobile. He is currently the Chairman of China Association for Public Companies.
In 2004, Dr Wang joined China Mobile as the Chairman and CEO. He has been instrumental in steering the Group to become the leading mobile service provider in China. The mobile network has covered 99 per cent of population, including 77,000 remote villages, so even people in most remote rural areas can use mobile phones to communicate and get information. This is instrumental in improving the infrastructure and stimulating the rural economy, which bridged the digital divide between urban and rural areas. With the world’s largest mobile network and mobile subscriber base, the Group won popular recognition and acclaim both at home and abroad.
Prior to joining China Mobile, Dr Wang was the Chairman and CEO of China Unicom. He also held a number of public offices, including the Director General of the Department of General Planning of the Ministry of Information Industry.
