About the Cambridge Market and Infrastructure Observatory

Building on a decade of fintech market research expertise and excellence, the Cambridge Market and Infrastructure Observatory (MIO) is the CCAF’s market research programme. The MIO seeks to generate impactful research and advance knowledge to empower stakeholders across the ecosystem with empirical data and insights, digital tools and frameworks necessary to support informed decision-making, facilitate sustainable market development and enable evidence-based regulation.

Research focus

The research agenda has been designed to provide high-level outputs that will serve the broader ecosystem, with global & regional reports with timely trends, digital access to data & visualisation intended to enhance business intelligence for policy and regulatory considerations and generate network impact through events and convenings. Our current priorities include Open Banking and Open Finance, Digital Public Infrastructure, SME Access to Finance, the Future of Fintech and other areas looking at the intersection of digital finance and regulation.

Research approach

The Cambridge MIO adopts a multi-faceted approach that integrates data collection, analysis and stakeholder engagement to produce actionable insights. We work with leading fintech companies, fintech and industry associations, development organisations, regulatory bodies and other ecosystem participants through various research panels and collaborative frameworks.
