EnterpriseTECH PhD+

EnterpriseTECH PhD+ is for PhD students, postdocs and research-focussed staff. With this stream, we aim to inspire and motivate students to get involved at the research/startup interface.

The type of inventions (projects) we select can be varied in how early-stage they are as well as how challenging. In general, our projects tend to be business to business platform technologies. As might be expected for the Cambridge cluster, there is an emphasis on the physical, life and medical sciences as well as engineering and technology.

EnterpriseTECH requires personal dedication and motivation to maximise the benefits to participants. In addition to the 30-hour immersive lecture and workshop experience, we recommend setting aside around a further 50-hours of personal time for the team project work and supervisions. Individuals who apply must be ready to commit for the duration of the programme from Launch Night to Pitch Night and the spell in between.

EnterpriseTECH has been an amazing learning experience. It's provided me with a crash course in entrepreneurship as well as hands-on business development experience. Working together with my team to pragmatically help a startup has been the most rewarding part of this journey as I got to see what the day to day work in a startup really is. EnterpriseTECH has helped me develop skills that will no doubt benefit my future employment and it has given me inspiration for my long-term career.

It has been a challenging programme but totally worth it! Not only did I learn about basic business skills but also about team work, leadership and about myself. Now, I feel more confident interacting with the business world and have a better understanding of the link between research and innovation. With my work, I want to contribute to the general knowledge but I also want my discoveries to make it to the next step and to benefit society. EnterpriseTECH, with its business lectures, team building workshops and pitch night, gave me the skill set to communicate between business and science.
