How can we help?

We’re inviting mission-driven partners and corporate sponsors to join us in amplifying our engagement and activities, nationally and globally.

It’s time to grow our core entrepreneurship education programme, EnterpriseTECH.

We want to broaden its accessibility and appeal to applicants from marginalised or underrepresented backgrounds, and increase participation from corporate sectors.

EnterpriseTECH and EnterpriseTECH STAR

EnterpriseTECH and EnterpriseTECH STAR have firmly established themselves as aspirational and impactful programmes, known for their practicality, dynamism, and relevance within the Cambridge research community. This is evidenced by our impressive alumni network, which now exceeds 1,000 PhD students, postdocs and other researchers in just five years since the programme’s inception.

Significantly, our student teams have contributed to the advancement of novel technologies by assisting more than 170 inventor teams with commercial feasibility studies. It’s important to note that both programmes operate on a strictly not-for-profit basis and do not hold any intellectual property rights.

The programme expansion will help us offer our specialist entrepreneurship training to more people irrespective of location and help us create a more diverse and inclusive learning environment, reflecting our commitment to fostering a wide range of perspectives and experiences.

How can I get involved?

We are seeking three categories of new relationships and partnerships. If you’re interested in contributing to our programmes or would like to talk about it, please write to our Head of Entrepreneurial Learning Programmes and Engagement, Dr. Rebecca Myers (r.myers@jbs.cam.ac.uk) during January-July 2024.

Our cycle for new partners and sponsors will be for the 2024-25 academic year.

1

As an individual

Are you a luminary in the field of science and tech entrepreneurship? Would you like to volunteer as a workshop provider, deliver a special guest lecture, or mentor our EnterpriseTECH STAR students.

We’re on the lookout for individuals not yet on our radar; those who can infuse our programmes with exciting, fresh thinking and enhance our diversity. If you have a unique perspective or innovative approach, we would love to hear from you.

2

Mission-driven partners

We want to team-up with mission-led organisations prioritising not-for-profit entrepreneurship training for researchers, as well as other enterprise initiatives and gate keepers of networks. These relationships can be around inclusion as mentors and speakers, in-kind activity, cross-pollination, knowledge exchange and network expansion.

3

Corporate partnerships

We are dedicated to building strong corporate partnerships that foster meaningful connections at the programme level for both EnterpriseTECH and EnterpriseTECH STAR. Our emphasis is on the quality and suitability of these partnerships, ensuring that each relationship is meaningful, vibrant, and beneficial for both parties.

As a corporate sponsor, your company will benefit from:

  • New collaboration opportunities and direct programme engagement, offering taught material, hands-on experiences and interactions with our innovative projects and participants.
  • Knowledge exchange with highly-skilled research talent and access to the University of Cambridge’s dynamic entrepreneurial ecosystem.
  • Opportunities for your company’s representatives to contribute as guest speakers, supervisors on EnterpriseTECH, or mentors on EnterpriseTECH STAR.

We also offer valuable places on EnterpriseTECH for your staff during the academic year. These sought-after places are a testament to our programme’s prestige and effectiveness in professional development and STEM-centred entrepreneurship skills.

Your sponsorship also reinforces our commitment to Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI). A portion of your contribution supports disadvantaged UK researchers through our Breaking Barriers award scheme. This initiative helps level the playing field by cultivating a more diverse community of entrepreneurially-minded researchers. It also plays a role in developing leaders for early-stage ventures, thereby enriching the wider entrepreneurial ecosystem.

We offer 3 levels of annual sponsorship, each featuring a comprehensive package that aligns with these objectives and values:

Top tier annual sponsorship: £20,000

Includes guest speaking and supervisor/mentor roles.

5 places on EnterpriseTECH for company staff.

Networking events including Launch and Pitch Nights.

We recommend that participating employees from your company possess backgrounds that align with our students’ research/educational backgrounds. Age is not a concern, we’re proud to have alumni ranging from 24 to 60 years of age. This maximises the impact and synergy of the programme, fostering an enriching learning environment and a dynamic exchange of ideas and expertise.

Participating employees should allocate 3 workdays for the 40-hour lecture intensive, with the remainder of the programme occurring outside standard work hours. Participating offers numerous benefits, including building valuable business skills, leadership training, and an understanding of technology commercialisation. EnterpriseTECH is a robust, business-focused Continuing Professional Development opportunity, condensed into 10-weeks of extracurricular learning and teamwork with a Certificate of Completion at the end.
