Living expenses

We recommend allowing around £15,000 for basic living costs when resident in Cambridge during your first year. This is to cover accommodation, food, bills, books/study materials, travel in Cambridge and other expenses. There may also be additional expenses such as fieldwork costs and equipment.

Before you’re admitted to study at the University of Cambridge, you’ll need to show proof of being able to cover the minimum maintenance costs estimated for your programme.

Use our University of Cambridge maintenance calculator to estimate additional costs, such as travel for overseas students and childcare.
