Where our ventures pitch their ideas
Pitch & Judge is an opportunity for Accelerate Cambridge entrepreneurs to pitch their business ideas to an audience made up of their peers, coaches, mentors, and the wider business community.
- Each venture has 5 minutes to pitch their idea, outlining their concept, value proposition, market potential, and other essential elements, supported by a 10-slide presentation.
- After each venture pitches, coaches and mentors provide feedback on the business case and presentation, offering valuable insights, suggestions, and relevant comments. Also, the audience scores the ventures pitch.
- Once all ventures have pitched, the scores are counted, and prizes are awarded to the top 3.
- Prizes will be presented at the Networking Drinks following the pitches at 17:30.
It’s a great forum for entrepreneurs to practice their pitches, receive invaluable feedback and for the audience to learn more about the ventures on the Accelerate Cambridge programme.
There is limited availability for guests to pitch their own venture ideas. If you would like to take part, please let us know on the registration form and we will be in touch to confirm.

The audience scores the ventures pitch on:
- Pitch delivery: Is the Pitch engaging, clear, and confident? Is the story cohesive and easy to follow?
- Clarity of the problem statement: Is the problem well defined? Is there a clear demonstration of the issue aiming to be solved?
- Viability of the solution: Does the solution clearly address the problem? Is the proposed solution innovative, practical, and well thought-out?
- Market opportunity: Is there a clear target market or audience? Is there a clear competitive advantage? Are market size, trends, and customer needs effectively presented?
- Team and traction: Are there any early indicators of success? Does the team have the skills and experience to execute the idea?
- Call to action: Did the pitcher clearly articulate what they need (e.g. funding, mentoring, partnerships) and why?
If you're going to be looking for funding you need to practice your pitch several times in front of an audience. The friendly pitch sessions and constructive feedback are probably the most valuable bit of the Accelerate programme and it would be foolish not to take advantage of them. When you do it for real, you're going to be up against people who have pitched dozens or even hundreds of times before. If you go into that without practice you are extremely unlikely to be successful. It's also never too early to start practicing. Even if you're still working on your idea and proposition there's nothing like having to condense it down to a short presentation to force you to do the hard thinking about your business.
