The benefits of an Executive MBA
Our Executive MBA programmes have been carefully designed so that participants spend as little time away from their work as possible. For example, on the Cambridge EMBA this equates to roughly 34 days over a 20-month period.
This time off can be negotiated with employees as vacation, unpaid leave, study days or time off in lieu.
EMBA participants are required to be in full-time employment; applying lessons learned is an important feature of the programme.
Cambridge is a hub of innovation and entrepreneurship; the programmes offer an opportunity to study the Cambridge ecosystem in depth during a three-day optional study session. There is also an opportunity for participants to engage with start-ups from Accelerate Cambridge and the wider local area.
Learning about entrepreneurship from peer-to-peer learning and by meeting active start-ups will enable employees to practice intrapreneurship within your organisation.
The EMBA programmes focus on participants’ personal and professional development, preparing them for the demands of a senior management or leadership role.
The programmes aim to develop their effectiveness as leaders through executive coaching and peer-to-peer learning, developing skills in:
- team management
- strategic thinking
- relationship building
Executive MBA participants undertake two live projects which reflect our belief in learning by doing.
Multinational organisations, including FTSE 100 companies, sponsor projects for EMBA participants to work on. These provide opportunities to explore new industries and test new approaches.
Team Consulting Project
The first live project, lasting one week, has participants work in small teams to consult for a major organisation of their choice.
This project covers any aspect of business in any commercial, industrial, public sector or not-for-profit organisation anywhere in the world. Participants gain insight into the client’s organisation, knowledge they bring back to their own workplace.
The second live project has participants focus on a business challenge faced by themselves or their organisation. This is a great way for students to focus on an area your organisation is struggling with and to get academic support on finding solution.
